Tyranny in the Academe

             If there is one tyranny that I would gladly surrender myself and that is the tyranny of reason. However, the world I am immersed into is a tyranny of the old, the titled and so called professed. The academe is indeed a bastion of excellence, a spawning pool for potential great people, but the breeders are themselves hog washed by the illusion of being immutable and infallible. When title, position and a touch of “self-proclaimed-hoodness” are the primary elements that reinforce their bearing in the environment then what we have is failure of democracy. We, the “have-nots”, too have that self-proclaim-hoodness; however, it is title and position that we do not have and we know the world functions in a hierarchy and at times that hierarchy is founded on power play and not on reason.             As a lover of wisdom, I reject power as truth but let truth be power and that I have no qualms about.
